In 2011, 44 AAL (Ambient Assisted Living) projects with the involvement
of ca. 200 organizations signed theLecce Declaration
<http://publica.fraunhofer.de/documents/N-225288.html>, which caused the
strategic and the operational plans of theEIP-AHA
<https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/eipaha/>(European Innovation Partnership
on Active and Healthy Living) to include the C2 action group on
interoperable independent living solutions. After more than two and a
half years, this event aims at bringing the demand and supply side
together in order to evaluate the achievements so far and collect
recommendations for the way forward. The workshop will include three
plenary sessions and two parallel tracks, one specific to the demand
side and the other to the supply side:

  * The demand side will meet in two sessions that are the continuation
of the "mutual learning" workshops of theENGAGED
    <http://www.aer.eu/en/knowledge-centre/regional-expertise/projects/engaged.html>project,
this time to look at the topic of interoperability. Subsequently,
they will have a look at theReAAL
    <http://www.cip-reaal.eu/about/project-description/>experience in a
third session, as this project has specifically been designed for
the EIP-AHA to assess the value of interoperable independent living
    solutions.
  * The supply side will go through the results of anAAL JP
<http://www.aal-europe.eu/>'s support action that investigates the
role of integration profiles in achieving interoperability (in
parallel to the "mutual learning" sessions of the demand side).
Finally in parallel to the demand side's session on ReAAL, the
suppliers will have a look at the results of the EC investments on
    theuniversAAL <http://universaal.org/index.php/en/>open platform for
    AAL.

In particular, the final plenary session will try to find out how the
participants evaluate the covered part of the journey and which
recommendations they make for the next steps towards managing AAL
complexity.
