We are pleased to invite you to participate in the '*Enablers for
Success Conference*' (E4S) organised by the R&D EU projects
'*universAAL*' and '*Home Sweet Home*', which is slated to held on
16th Jan 2014 at the *Mobile World Centre* auditorium in Barcelona.
Experts, IT developers, and end users will be able to share a day with
an open exchange of news and views about the ICT support oriented to
the Active and Healthy Ageing.

Addressed to the stakeholders of the *Ambient Assisted Living* (AAL)
market of products and services for the elder, the conference will
provide a forum for discussion on the different strategies that can be
approached to reach the market in this area, exploring also the ways
forward to respond to the challenge from the technical side. Lessons
learnt, bridging pilots to real market for deployment or how to
increase the chances of impact for individual projects in the real
deployment of a market for AAL products and services would be some of
the topics at the centre of the conference. The final objective is to
promote a debate and discussion about ways to make it real.

Representatives from the stakeholders will be participating addressing
the *Enablers for Success* from different perspectives. In first
place, featured keynote speakers will highlight government's point of
views including policy-making and overviews of ageing as a social
issue becoming a market opportunity. Additionally, the EC view on its
Horizon 2020 with its main trends, new challenges and opportunities.
Invited speakers are *Ms Laurette Onkelinx*, Minister of Social
Affairs and Health of Belgium, and *Mr Paul Timmers*, Director of
Sustainable & Secure Society, European Commission, Directorate-General
CONNECT (TBC).

In second place, three round tables will allow speakers and attendees
to share opinions on three main topics:

*1- The barriers between the medical and the social services*:
integrating care. The view of the Public Administrations as enablers:
billing, reimbursement models, public procurement...

*2- The IT perspective and the E4S:* From open source to
interoperability and standards. From legal issues to regulations. How
flexible can we expect the market to be? What kind of
technical/standardisation progress is needed? How to assure the right
to privacy and security in this context?-

*3- The boundary between the healthy elderly person and the patient*:
The client and the user. Different strategies to address the market?
What the users have to say?. Do we listen to them? Ethical issues.

Invited moderators are: *Mr George Crooks*, NHS 24; *Mr Francisco
García Morán*, European Commission's Chief IT Advisor; *Anne-Sophie
Parent*, AGE Platform Europe Secretariat Manager (TBC).

Finally, the conference will also host the whole day a *'Demo lounge*'
where the hosting projects '*universAAL*' and '*Home Sweet Home*' and
others would be able to show demonstrations about their results and
features.

The conference will be held in the *Mobile World Capital*
<http://mobileworldcapital.com/en/page/51>'s permanent exhibition &
venue centre, a global reference to spread and demonstrate the latest
mobile technologies and solutions to citizens. It is located just in
the centre of Barcelona in Plaça Catalunya. Additional information
about registering to the event together with details on how to get to
the venue will be sent to you later on request.

We hope you are able to accept this invitation and I look forward to
hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Dario Salvi
