ITACA-UPV (Institute for the Application of Advanced Information and Communication Technologies) is a non-profit organization constituted in an association between the Polytechnic University of Valencia, enterprises of the ICT, Industrial Services sectors and Public Administrations and SME Industry Institutes. ITACA-UPV belongs and manages, together with a spin-off of the group, a CIAMI eInclusion Living Lab in Valencia where a number of technologies are massively distributed inside an apartment that is specially designed for an easy living of elderly people and disabled people. The TSB (Technologies for Health and Well-Being) group at ITACA-UPV is dedicated to the application of Information Communication Technologies in the fields of Health and Social Services.

ITACA-TSB participates in international initiatives and is among the leaders in the ranking of participation in European projects within the VI & VII Framework Programme.

As the prime objective of the ITACA-TSB is innovation, a continuous effort is also made to cooperate with other organisations, and this has given rise to a considerable number of agreements and contracts with leading companies and public organisations.

Dr. Sergio GUILLEN
Doctor Health & Wellbeing Technologies Area of ITACA CEO. He is Electrical & Electronic Engineer and has the Doctoral Thesis in Telecommunications by the University of Valencia (Spain). He has worked for more than 10 years as Research Fellow of the National Scientific Council (CONICET) of Argentina and as Assistant Professor in the University of Tucumán (Argentina) in the field of Biomedical Engineering and Medical Instrumentation. During the last ten years, he has participated in several EU funded projects as Project Coordinator and Technical Manager. He was project manager of HEALTHY MARKET and ACTIVE HEALTH (VFP). He has been member of the management board of PIPS (IP project), MyHEART (IP project), SENSATION (IP Project) and Technical Manager in PERSONA and UNIVERSAAL (IP Projects) He has published more than 85 technical papers in national and international journals and has participated in several seminars and conferences about eHealth, eInclusion and Ambient Intelligence.

Mr. Juan C. Naranjo
Bachelor in Computer Sciences by Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (1994) and Master in Software Engineering. Professor assistant of the UNED: Software Engineering (2001), Software Analysis & Design (2002), Software Process Management (2002) UNED.
He has participated in more than 15 EU funded projects within the III, IV, V, VI & VII Framework Programme and Spanish funded projects in the  PROFIT programme  and Plan AVANZA, dealing most of them with health care and social services making use of Information Communication Technologies.

Ms. Laura Belenguer
Bachelor in Telecommunication Engineer by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (ES) and Master in Medical Imaging by Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (BE). As researcher, she worked at Siemens Medical Solutions (DE, USA) and in MEM CENTER - University of Bern (CH). As Project Manager, she worked as R&D Project Manager in the Spanish National Biomedical Research Network CIBER-BBN. Currently, she is Project Manager at ITACA-UPV, involved in the Technical management of UNIVERSAAL (IP Project).
